PUBLIUS SPECIAL GUEST: Donna Carter, President and Founder of Going Ballistic, a 501-C-3 non-profit organization that has been established to provide law enforcement in Texas with ballistic shields.
Going Ballistic is a 501-C-3 non-profit organization that is established with the intent to provide law enforcement in Texas with ballistic shields. These shields and the accompanying training will help our law enforcement professionals meet the ever-demanding job of police work while protecting them from the dangers of an active shooter or similar threat.
These shields are quite expensive and therefore not normally issued to law enforcement officers other than specialized tactical units. It is the goal of Going Ballistic to provide these lifesaving shields to the first responders in law enforcement to mitigate the risks of an active shooter more quickly without having to wait for SWAT-type units to arrive thus saving lives.

It started with a question.
Mrs. Carter did more than wonder – she reached out to local law enforcement where her son would attend school and asked the question all parents hate to ask.
“Are we ready for another Uvalde?”
The answer was shockingly, “no” after 32 years of such incidents - leaving kids, classrooms and cops vulnerable. Donna and her team took action: contacted national firearm experts, sourced manufactures and came up with a strategic plan and launched a 501 (c)3, all in one year. Their first shield rated for rifle rounds was donated this February. Another is ready to be gifted, as we speak.
HISTORY
After much prayer and contemplation following the Uvalde shooting, now
something that will be synonymous with the quiet small town, I felt lead to call my brother-in-law who is a retired Texas Ranger in the hopes of seeing if there was anything we could do. His response was, “It’s funny you called”.
After sifting through facts and rumors, he told me that the Uvalde incident was likeColumbine April 20, 1999. My heart broke and my head almost exploded hearing this, the fact was first responders were waiting on someone to arrive with a rifle rated ballistic shield. This planted a seed in me that has taken root and sprung forth into GoingBallistic.org. Then he said, every first responding vehicle should carry one. I agreed.
We began to talk protective shields and varying capabilities, sizes, and price. Then then I wondered if the county, where my son would attend school, had one and if not - how could we get one? It’s funny how when you start to ask simple questions you come up with simple solutions.

A certain (deplatformed and censored) candidate for president has made it clear that the focus on gun violence is like focusing on the bruises instead of the abuser in domestic abuse situations. We have a violent culture; through and through, starting from the top-down. We have military bases all over the globe and troops and drones killing people thousands of miles from our homeland.
Focusing on the symptoms and not the cause will never do anything but anesthetize; not cure.
There is a very strong link between pharmaceuticals and spree shootings as well. That is being largely ignored.
